The messaging feature enables the helper to send text messages (SMS) to a contact stored on the users’ list. The messaging feature has gone live from 31 January on the Alexa devices supporting messaging and calling.
As per a report on TechCrunch, when requested to send a message to a buddy or a contact in the listing, Alexa will find out methods to send the message. If the recipient does not have an Alexa device the message will be transmitted as a text message (SMS) on their Android smartphones. The attribute is limited to Android smartphones at the moment. To begin with the new features users need to follow directions that will appear like a pop-up to the Alexa Android app.
Users need to select ‘Contacts’ in the ‘Conversation’ tab of this app and proceed to ‘My Profile’. Turn on the ‘Send SMS’ attribute in the ‘My profile’ tab in the app and the feature is about to use.
After turning on the features users will have the ability to send voice messages via their Alexa devices. Users need to specify the sort of message they want to send to the receiver, which is ‘Text message’ or ‘Message’. If Alexa isn’t able to send the message to another Alexa apparatus, then it will send an SMS to the recipient’s smartphone.
The report mentioned that the business is not able to bring the feature on Apple smartphones as the firm does not offer their messaging API to third parties.
Amazon lately brought the radio programme hosted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Echo devices. Users may say ‘Alexa, open ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and listen to the latest episode of this programme.
