Google Maps for iOS Users Can Now 'Follow' Their Favourite Places

IOS users will then have the ability to remain up to date in their favourite places right from the Google Maps program, Internet giant Google has declared. The rollout on iOS includes roughly five month following its introduction on Android. Users may look for a location – whether it’s a brand new restaurant that opened up in the neighbourhood or that must-try bakery across town – and tap the”Follow” button. The button is now rolling out to the iOS users worldwide.

“Beginning this week, you can remain up to date in your favourite places right from the Google Maps program on iOS. Just look for a location –whether it is a brand new restaurant that just opened up in your area or must-try bakery across city – and tap the button. You’ll then be able to see important updates from such places on your’For You’ tab so that you can quickly find out about forthcoming events, offers and much more,” Andrew Cooper, Product Manager, Google Maps, wrote in a blog post late on Wednesday.

“And today, places and companies all over the world can see their followers in the Google’My Business’ app, and knowingly post useful information to their own followers to view. The’Follow’ button begins rolling out on iOS now,” Cooper added.

This Google Maps attribute was originally rolled out to get Android devices in October 2018.

“With more than 150 million places around Google Maps and millions of people searching for places to go, we made two upgrades so that it’s even easier for you to stay informed about the places you care about and find out about places coming shortly,” Google had said back in October.
