Xiaomi is launching a new variant of the Mi Max two in India shortly, aiming to please mid-range buyers. Following launching the Mi Max 2 with 4GB + 64GB configuration at Rs. 16,999 in July, the business will now be coming out with a 4GB + 32GB option that is priced at Rs. 14,999, but will have an introductory price tag of Rs. 12,999. The new variant will go on sale starting September 20 at 12pm on Amazon India, Mi.com and Mi Home, the company confirms.

To remember, the dual-SIM (Micro+Nano) Xiaomi Mi Max two runs MIUI 8 predicated on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. In our review of the handset, we found the overall performance to be smooth despite a currently dated Snapdragon 625 SoC.

In the camera department, the Mi Max 2 features a 12-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX386 sensor (with 1.25-micron pixels), PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and dual-LED flash.

While the Mi Max 2 has been initially launched with 64GB of inbuilt storage, the Chinese phone maker will be launching a 32GB variant that will fall under the sub-Rs.15,000 category. Both the variants arrive with expandability option via microSD card (up to 128GB). In terms connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 supports 4G VoLTE, in addition to dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v4.2, and GPS/ A-GPS. Sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, infrared detector, fingerprint sensor, and proximity detector.

The smartphone packs a 5300mAh battery that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The Mi Max 2 steps 174.1×88.7×7.6mm and weighs 211 g.
